PBOE- Peanut Butter Over Everything

It’s Peanut Butter Jelly time! Song throwback anyone? Actually, scratch the jelly. Who likes jelly anyways? Perhaps I am biased. My apologies to all you jelly lovers. If you are one of the 1.3 percent of Americans that suffer from a peanut allergy, my deepest apologies go to you.

Peanut Butter. How do I even begin? I may have a slight obsession with peanut butter. My friends tell me to stop saying the word “slight” in front of the word “obsession”. Go ahead, call me a peanut butter-a-holic. I wont deny it, and I am not offended.

Screen Shot 2015-06-16 at 10.03.48 AMAND, there’s several benefits to eating peanut butter. Hence, no reason for me to ever feel bad about my obsession. Except for the times that I eat half of a tub in one day and then realize what I have done. Minor details. (But, ugh, so sad when I only have half left.)

Peanut Butter serves as a valuable source of protein. Protein means: building and repairing muscles, staying fuller longer, and a boost in energy. Those characteristics sound like it can help someone lose weight? Indeed, it can (when eaten in the recommended serving size). Before you all start hassling me on my serving sizes, CAN I GET AN AMEN?

There are 7 grams of protein in the recommended serving size of 2 tablespoons. YA YA YA, we all know I don’t follow that. It’s not my fault I have a problem.Screen Shot 2015-06-16 at 10.03.26 AM

There are also high levels of the heart-friendly potassium found in Peanut butter, which functions as an opposite to the negative effects of sodium. Sodium directly stresses our cardiovascular system, and has been linked to hypertension, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. Sodium also happens to make me puff up like a puffer fish in a defcon 5 situation. THANK GOD, I am just so over that.

Peanut Butter contains healthy fats that have been linked to lower one’s risk of heart disease. Along with the healthy fats found in peanut butter, the amount fiber found in peanut butter can lower dissatisfactory cholesterol levels, aid in regulating the digestive system, and even combat obesity, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes.

So, if peanut butter isn’t your true love, it can keep you alive to find your true love? BONUS.

All in all, you should take my advice. Go on and keep lickin’ those spoons my friends.

And serving sizes are for p*$$ies. Remember that. #PBOE
